About the Role

CFMA is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven professional to serve as Chapter Strategy Manager. Reporting to the Director, Chapter Engagement, this highly visible role leads the strategic planning process for CFMA’s local chapters — preparing, facilitating, and delivering final strategic plans that chapter boards can act on.

CFMA’s chapters are led by dedicated volunteer boards of construction financial professionals, and their success depends on a trusted staff partner who knows them, supports them, and helps them grow. The Chapter Relations Manager is that partner for chapters across the West and West Central U.S. — the person chapter leaders know by name, turn to for guidance, and count on to help their chapter thrive.

At the center of this partnership is chapter strategic planning. Working from a proven CFMA planning framework, you will guide each chapter’s volunteer board through building a living strategic plan: preparing session materials, facilitating the planning conversation, delivering the final documented plan, and checking in regularly to celebrate progress and refine priorities. You don’t need to arrive with the answers — you bring structure, relationships, and follow-through, and the framework does the heavy lifting.

You will partner closely with the Chapter Engagement Program Manager, who maintains chapter health metrics, translating that data into practical goals and support for each chapter. You will also work alongside the Chapter Resource Committee and national staff leadership to strengthen engagement and drive chapter and member success. This role reports to the Director, Chapter Engagement.

This is a field role: expect to travel roughly 50% of the time to be with your chapters in person — at board meetings, planning sessions, trainings, and events — representing CFMA and building the kind of relationships that only happen face to face.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the trusted, go-to relationship manager for volunteer chapter leaders across your region, providing responsive guidance, proactive check-ins, and a consistent CFMA presence.
  • Own the full strategic planning cycle for assigned chapters — preparing session materials, facilitating planning discussions with volunteer boards, and delivering the final documented strategic plan.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with chapter leaders to monitor progress, address challenges, and keep each chapter’s plan alive and actionable.
  • Partner with the Chapter Engagement Program Manager to review chapter health metrics, identify support needs, and align strategy accordingly.
  • Support and collaborate with the Chapter Resource Committee, bringing chapter voice to national conversations and national resources to chapters.
  • Represent CFMA through presentations, meetings, trainings, and events across the region.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Chapter Engagement and national staff to advance shared departmental and organizational goals.

What You’ll Bring

  • 4+ years of association or membership-organization experience, including chapter, component, member, or partner relations.
  • A relationship-first approach: demonstrated success, building trust with volunteer leaders, members, or organizational partners and navigating varied personalities and leadership dynamics.
  • Comfort leading meetings and presenting to groups, including senior-level professionals — or a genuine readiness to grow into it with CFMA’s framework and support.
  • The ability to translate data, feedback, and observations into measurable, attainable action plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and professionalism to manage multiple chapter relationships at once.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% within the West / West Central region.
  • Experience with member engagement, retention, or volunteer management in an association setting is a strong plus.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting volunteer committees or leadership groups within an association or membership organization.
  • Experience with association platforms such as Monday.com, ACGI, or Glue Up(or comparable CRM/AMS systems.
  • Comfort working with data, reporting, and engagement metrics, with strong Excel proficiency.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, OneNote, and PowerPoint.

What’s in It for You

  • Eligible for annual performance-based bonus
  • Mission-driven work supporting a nationwide professional community
  • Collaborative, supportive team culture
  • Robust benefits package, including:
    • Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance
    • 401(k) with 5% employer match
    • Life & AD&D (2x salary up to $250,000)
    • Short-term & Long-term Disability
    • PTO up to 20 days annually + paid holidays
